My first weekend AWAY

Sooo a 4 day weekend (for easter) means I must travel somewhere. Hmm? Where did I go..Paris? no Milan? nope. oh why of course to the countryside. There were 8 of us total and we are all so very different. I'll give you a day by day play.

Friday: the bus ride took like 6 hrs when it was only suppose to take 4. we got lost walking the mile to the hostel so this nice English couple with a baby walked us there. We go to this club called Club Havana (1st pix). The shots here are like a forth of the size of American shot glasses. So suffice to say it takes an awful lot of shots to feel saucy. We then go to this club called Mambo (i think lol) and we are the only ones dancing on the hip hop floor. We stand out like a sore thumb, but we get shots on the house and the dj plays whatever songs we want for the whole night. HOttness. During a cigarette break (not mine) this guy starts rapping to me and my roomie and wouldnt stop for like 5 minutes. I wish i could have recorded him just so everyone could get a laugh for the day.

Saturday: We went horseriding. MMMmm so lets just say I'm not the most outdorsey chic. The view from the horse was beautiful we went up and down trails and through a stream. But that was my first and my LAST time riding a horse. They are way too temperamental and there is no way to make them listen, they have all the control. NO likey.

Sunday: We went to the coast to see the beach in Exmouth. We were enjoying a walk on the beach until it randomly starts pouring down rain and the sand starts swarming around us. Over the nxt couple of hrs we get caught in a few more rain showers and one really bad hail storm. England reminds me of Florida b/c of the sporadic rain showers.

A few things to note:
* I am going to lose so much weight here b/c we have to walk EVERYWHERE and the food here is god awful. I refer to this lifestyle change as the European diet.

* I dont quiet fit in here with a lot of the interns, they are a lot more reserved and I'm kind of spunky. But there is one roomie that I'm hitting it of with quiet well (haha dont i sound british). I'm hoping to meet more people that I connect with in the next couple of weeks.

* I like my job. I get to organize a lot of meetings and talk on the phone all day. I spend half my time on the phone spelling my name so people can call me back. H- A as in apple - F as in frank - EE- Z as in zebra- A as in apple- H. Everyone in my office can now spell my name, thats how much I had to spell it out. I start school starting April so look for updates on that.

ugh I'm in the Rat Race called 9to5 Hell

Soo I started my job today. Its cool so far its just really monotonous. I'm like a glorified secretary. I graduated from college, I dont want to just book appointments for my boss. A lot of the kids in the programme are cool and all are just here to travel. Some are spoiled brats and dont know how to compromise. I can tell this is going to be an interesting experience. Living in this flat is like I joined a sorority that I didnt want to pledge / like reliving my hs years with adults with bank accounts. Okay enough of the complaining.

* Suspenders (like the steve urkel kind)= braces

* Doctors office= surgents
* French Fries= chips
* BS /Crap= rubbish
* Asian person= only someone from india, not chinese or korean, etc
* Supply closet (pencils, post its, staples) = store cupboard

Its like we speak two different languages! lol

OOhh and Pickpocketing is ramped , soo ridiculous, a couple of the other programme participants have already gotten stuff stolen. I have to watch my purse like a hawk. wish i had one that zipped up *hint* *hint*

Im Finally Here

So what do you want to know first hmmmm....
I arrived on Monday morning @ 9am. I'm finally starting to settle in. Apparently this weekend is a holiday weekend so no work for me on friday or Monday which of course means im going to go away somewhere..ehmmm ready...Im going to the English country side to a city called Exter. I'm going to go horseback riding and ish like that it should me fun, hopefully. I wanted to go to Paris, but on such short notice it is way out of my budget.

Another thing to note I still dont have a cell phone and I dont think Im getting one until next Tuesday, which is a really Big Big BOO, but I do have wireless in my flat now, thank god. By the way there are only 5 channels for the tv, so I will not be watching The Hills premiere which is very saddening. I also have a lovely cold, which is wonderful b/c i start work tomorrow.

For inquiring minds here are few yes and no answers to your questions:
* No, I havent had any crazy nights, but I'm hoping to have some this weekend with my flatmates.
* Yes, I am still with my bf ( i think.. lol j/k)
* Yes, I miss all of you like crazy.
* Yes, the accents do start to lose their appeal.
* Yes, the English cannot cook, I swear if I opened a soul food restaurant in London I'd make a small fortune

A few quirky things:
* The elevators have floors numbered -1, -2 = really odd
* The bathroom light is on the outside of the bathroom and goes off in 20 minutes (automatic timer).
* If you ask people on the street for directions, they actually give them to you unlike nyc/dc (major shocker/fab perk)
* If I open a dresser drawer the whole dresser shakes, its cheaper than the stuff they gave us @ umd.

Why am I still in the States?

So i was allegedly leaving on March 2nd, then the 9th, now supposedly the 15th...hmmm this will be very interesting. will i ever actually start this internship programme in london....hmm it remains to be seen. stay tuned.

Sapnote: It's really the end of an era, no more umd, all of us are dispersing to diff locations, but i cant wait to see what becomes of all of us, myself, the cp crew, and my bestest...I'm sure it'll be nothing like we've ever expected my loves.
